Prof. Antonio Micari is an interventional cardiologist. He earned his medical degree and completed a cardiology residency at University of Messina, Italy, and completed a fellowship at University of Virginia, Charlottesville, USA. He then returned to University of Messina to complete a Ph.D. He joined the faculty at University of Messina in 2020.
An active researcher, Prof. Micari has participated in several international clinical studies and has served as a Principal Investigator. He was one of the investigators for the IN.PACT DEEP and IN.PACT SFA studies of Medtronic’s drug-eluting balloons. He has been a speaker at many national and international medical congresses, including EUROECHO, American College of Cardiology Annual Scientific Session, American Heart Association Scientific Sessions, Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) Annual Meeting, VEITHsymposium IN 1 and International Union of Angiology World Congress. In addition, Prof. Micari has authored more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals.
Prof. Micari has a strong commitment to post-graduate medical education. He has served as a proctor at clinical sites around and beyond Europe; as faculty at congresses including EuroPCR, the International Congress on Endovascular Interventions (iCON), Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT), Leipzig Interventional Course (LINC), and LINC Asia; and as a live operator at EuroPCR, LINC, and Complex Cardiovascular Catheter Therapeutics (C3)
